Lynn and I went out with Lynn's parents for dinner on Friday night, returning to my house around 11:00 at night. I gave Lynn a rose, and we then took a walk to Coleman School - my elementary school where, among other things, I had taken Lynn for a special evening the night before she first left for Northwestern in 1998.
Lynn and I had been talking and joking about possible ways that I might someday propose to her for the past few weeks, and so she suspected that I might propose at the school. But I didn't.
Instead, we walked back to my house, where we were planning on playing a game of Aerodarts before going out to meet our friends at a bar. (Aerodarts is a lawn darts game that Lynn and I have played a lot.) We had been planning on playing at night for some time, using citronella candles for light. In any case, we needed to get the equipment for the game out of my garage. We opened the garage, and there in big chalk letters I had written: "Lynn, will you marry me? Love, " and then a large circle. I knelt on one knee in the circle, proposed, and slipped a ring on Lynn's finger. Lynn said yes, and we've been smiling since.
Please enjoy these 3 (somewhat redundant) pictures of the garage floor from that evening. (Click on a picture to increase its size.) Also, Lynn and I would love to hear from you, so feel free to email either Lee or Lynn or both of us.
