I hate the New England Patriots

There's no two ways about it. I don't know how they can go on time and time again winning playoff games without deserving them. It's disgusting.

Football's full of mistakes. They're a part of the game. But certain mistakes are so fundamental that professionals avoid them--in general. It's these mistakes that teams facing the Patriots in the playoffs regularly make. Today's loss by the Chargers was a perfect example. The mistakes include dropping wide open passes, inexplicable play calling, boneheaded penalties, ridiculous challenges, and, of course, intercepting a fourth-down pass instead of knocking it down. Don't get me wrong: the Chargers did not deserve to win this game either. But the thing is, in a fair world, the Patriots would lose just as many games that neither team deserves to win as they win. But that's not the case; rather, the Patriots win almost every single game when both teams play like crap, and that disgusts me. (Ok, well, that combined with Patriots fans interpreting their victories as being due to the supreme excellence of their football team, rather than the other teams' gift-wrapping the games for them.)

The Chargers should have won this game by 20 points. Instead, they handed the game to the Patriots on a silver platter, and the Patriots, who had looked inept and overmatched for much of the game, performed admirably in the clutch and accepted the victory. Belichik didn't win this game; Brady didn't win this game; Gostkowski didn't win this game. The Chargers lost this game, as so many Patriots opponents have done in the playoffs over the past six years. Some day the karma must run out, and I hope I'm around to enjoy it.

Fuck the Patriots.

Go Colts.

I feel the same way. As a resident of St. Louis, I know all about how teams just give the patriots victories in the post season. Dont get me wrong Tom Brady is a bad ass dude, but a LOT of the Patriots success is just dumb luck!!

You suck!!! F**k u

I can't stand how people act like the cheating by the patriots isn't a big deal and how the league just swept this thing under the rug. The next time my team plays the patriots, im wearing this shirt.

Just a quick question. Whats does a team do with illegal video and audio tapes? I mean where does it go? What benefit did the Patriots get from recording this stuff for 9 years?

Answer these questions and I think a lot of Patriots fans will start to see the light.

you all are a bunch of idiots. You do realize that defensive coordinators change their signals? Any tapes the Pats may have had are useless anyway. What about this year? No tapes this year, they are having the best year in history. I am a huge RedSox fan and we hated the Yankees because they WON. That is all that is happening here. Get over it. Talented players want to play for New England. It start with the front office and the head coach. When your teams get this is when you will start to win.

See, calling anybody who doesn't like the Patriots "a bunch of idiots" is what I have to live with day in and day out here in New England. While I love New England for the seasons and the history, the sports fans are "a bunch of idiots". They give no one else any credit. It's funny, 74% of New England viewers thought Barry Bonds should be stripped of his record because he cheated, but 100% don't think that the Patriots cheating scandal had anything to do with their Super Bowl wins. These are the most hypocritcal fans ever!

Does anyone even know the rule the Patriots broke by using the camera to video play calls? IT IS LEGAL TO VIDEO ANYTHING ON THE SIDELINES. You just have to do it from the stands, not the sideline. So they broke the camera location rule. ALL TEAMS VIDEO THE OTHER TEAMS ON THE SIDELINES DURING EVERY GAME! And they do everything else possible that they can to get an edge on the other team. Why do you think almost no other coach commented on this media spectacle about so called "cheating"?
Get over it, that was game #1 losers. Plus, they DID pay a penalty, Bill Belichick had to pay a half million dollars from his pocket and lost his first round draft pick. That was the fine - period - over.
The Patriots are the best team in the NFL and are undefeated because THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER!

Face it, the 2007 Patriots are the greatest NFL team ever and will go 19-0 to win their 4th Super Bowl in 6 years. The fact that the rest of the country hates their guts makes every Patriots fan like myself smile with glee. And, it only gives the team more motivation to play even harder the next game. They're absolutely determined to win and unstoppable at this point.
So go ahead — hate away, call them cheats, etc. You're only giving them more bulletin board material, which they thrive on.

I find it interesting that everyone has the Patriots in the Super Bowl already. They may be rolling over all of their opponents now, but who knows what can happen in the playoffs? Isn't that how the Patriots won their first Super Bowl, by coming out of nowhere? The arrogance on the part of the Boston sports media and the fan base just assuming themselves into the Super Bowl is the most aggravating thing. I sure hope they lose long before the playoffs, but if they don't and they win a super bowl, oh well. They are a powerhouse team, that is not in question. The fact remains that the season is not over, so stop saying it is.

It's not over, but referencing the Patriots' first Super Bowl victory is silly. The 2001 Rams aren't anywhere near as good as the 2007 Patriots. And the 2001 Patriots can't hold a candle to them, either. The current team is playing at a whole different level.

[homophobic slur removed --Lee] Tom brady is a fucking pussy with a good O line and the best reciever in football to throw it to. I can go back to the year when they played the raiders in the playoffs tom [Brady] clearly fumbles and they call it an incomplete pass? That was the start of it all. The patriots are unbeaten right now but they only beat the colts by 4 they in no way dominated that game and the colts were hurt and undermanned as well. The other teams the beat with the exception of dallas were all pushovers, wow they belw out the bills, the jets, and the dolphins oh yeah they beat the bengals too! Give me a break they are beatable and when it does happen I am going to love it. Do not think I hate the [Patriots] because they are good I had no problem with the cowboys of the 90's or the niners in the 80's. New england is just an overhyped, over rated team and what the fuck new england they represent an entire section of america? The pats blow!!

Thank you "the truth". I couldn't agree with you more!

For anyone who thinks "Spygate" has tarnished the Patriots' three previous Super Bowl victories:
You do realize that what the team did against the Jets was perfectly legal until 2006, when the NFL changed the rules? The Patriots won all their Super Bowls before then. So how are their championships tarnished?

Who is still undefeated? Pats are you whiners. 11 - 0
GO PATS - we rule from the land of champions!!

Who cares if the Pats are undefeated? Once the playoffs are here, the slate is wiped clean. You never know what could happen. I know the idiotic Boston media has them in the Super Bowl already, and there's a good chance they will be there, but there's always a chance that they lose in the playoffs. Maybe if the fan-base was not so arrogant (just like the team is) then the rest of the country wouldn't hate them so much!

The Patriots won three Superbowls...all three by a field goal. The first was won because of a lousy play-off call against Oakland. I agree that it seems they get lucky too often. Richard Nixon burned eight minutes of audio tape and Goodell burns the Patriot's video tapes. Why isn't someone investigating that? It will be truly sad if a team caught cheating winds up winning it all, and we will be forced to listen to endless crap about Brady being Montana, Santa Claus, and Jesus all wrapped up in one!

LOL Ken, that's a good one... about Brady. I couldn't agree with you more. If they play in the Super Bowl, it isn't worth watching. ESPECIALLY the 9 hours of coverage before, so we can see what WONDERFUL people that team is comprised of. Yeah, they're a bunch of jewels. When they beat the Panthers (which absolutely broke my heart) at their parade, Vrabel was bad-mouthing the Panthers. I mean, cmon, you just beat them, why bad-mouth them now? This entire team has taken on the personality of their coach, and he has the personality of an ashtray.

First of all, "the truth" has said what I have been raving about for years. The infamous "tuck rule" is one of the worst rules in the NFL, and Oakland absolutely should have been in the Superbowl in 2001. If that play was correctly left as a fumble, this whole string of luck would never have happened, and we wouldn't have to hear about the so-called New England dynasty. The Rams laid down, assuming overtime was guaranteed, in '02--even the worst QB in the league could have beaten that prevent defense. And somehow Brady wins the MVP with 145 yards?! Then John Kasay inexplicably lets the final kickoff go out of bounds in '04, allowing the Pats to start at the 40, easily getting a shot at the final field goal. Hell, they didn't even make the playoffs in '03! This is a false dynasty that has been riding a trend of good luck unlike anything ever seen in the NFL. They should be 9-2 this year anyway; the Colts would have easily won at full strength, and A.J. Feeley gave them a gift-wrapped interception this past Sunday night. And they play in the second worst division in the NFL next to the NFC West. But nobody wants to talk about that. They couldn't handle the NFC East or North, nor could they handle the AFC North or South. Oh, and Bill Belichick is a total asshole, as seen with his brush-off of Peyton Manning's handshake after the AFC Championship last year. And how hypocritical is it for the most arrogant team in pro sports to talk about eating "humble pie"? There are a million plus reasons to hate this team, and a million plus reasons why they are just plain lucky.

Cmeyer, AMEN to all that! I love when they play a night game, that way I can watch football all day Sunday with my NFL Ticket, and make believe they don't exist! As long as I avoid the Monday morning Boston news, I'm all set. Living in New England is holy hell with the hypocrits and the bandwagoners. These Puritans that live here have such a double-standard. They can't accept any bad beahavior, yet their beloved Patriots are filled with liars and cheaters. Somehow all the fan base seems to look the other way. Amazing how that is!

Oh my God, people are still talking about the tuck rule? Get a freakin' life — it's over. Even if it was a bad call — the refs got it right, however — every team has calls go against them once in a while. The Patriots have experienced plenty of horrible officiating this year, but they've always managed to overcome it. That's what great teams do. Why don't you talk about how the Raiders simply weren't good enough in 2001? If they were, one "bad call" wouldn't have made a difference.
And as for Mike Vrabel badmouthing the Panthers, maybe he knew what we all found out later on: That several members of the Carolina team were on steroids during the Superbowl against the Pats? (I guess GiantsfaninNE is "looking the other way" on that one.) How come everyone talks about Rodney Harrison and Spygate but says nothing about the cheaters on other teams throughout the league?
Oh, and "luck?" You don't win three Superbowls in four years and go 11-0 so far this season with luck.
Ha ha, hate away. The Patriots and their fans love it that everyone else is so jealous.

Every Pats fan uses "jealousy" as a reason to dislike their team. Say what you like. I've been a Giants fan all my life, and it isn't easy with Eli and all, but I don't diss people for not backing the same team as I do. Everyone has the right to their own opinion about how the Pats won their super bowls, and whether Tom Brady is gay, and if Bill Belichick is a lousy human being or not. The most we can do is agree to disagree. I live amongst all the hype about this team and it makes me sick, but that's my opinion. By the way, Mike Vrabel could not have had any information regarding the Panthers two days after the super bowl, since that wasn't leaked for a long time later.

Another thing, all Pats fans defend their cheating team by saying "other teams cheat". Does this make it right? Is it OK to cheat in any respect?

No, it isn't, but singling out the Patriots doesn't make sense. Every team cheats, one way or another. The Pats pulled a bonehead move, especially since they're the last team in the league that needs to cheat. But they're already been punished, so the issue is dead. Live with it.
What hype are you talking about? The Pats get a lot of press because, you know, they won three rings in four years in the age of free agency, and are currently 11-0. They're a good team, so naturally they're going to get more headlines. Who are we supposed to be reading about, the Giants? Please.
And explain to me why so many of you guys are so obsessed with Brady's sexuality? Is it because you secretly have the hots for him? And where's the evidence that he's gay? Is the accusation based on the fact that he dates a lot of supermodels?
More importantly, what's that got to do with anything anyway? So what if he were gay, he's still kicking your asses. Homophobes.

The Patriots didn't cheat. They broke a rule. The rule states that it is LEGAL for any team to film the other team, (which they all do) the game or anything they want, but not from the sidelines only from the stands. So they broke the rule by filming from the sideline instead of the stands. They paid the price and have gone on to BEAT UP on every other team since. The NFL DID investigate and was satisfied with the outcome and served Belichick his fine. GET OVER IT!
And how do you figure they are arrogant? The Pats players are the most reserved, well-behaved team in the NFL. They don't brag, flaunt their talent or dis other teams, they just work and do their job WELL!
It is just total JEALOUSY - you just can't stand how good the Patriots and Brady are!!! Hail from the Land of Champions!

Land of Champions, my ass! They are extremely arrogant. Don't you live in New England? Oh yeah, you are one of those biased, idiotic Patriots' fans.... I forgot!

How can a man labeled a "coaching genius" misinterpret a league rule? But the die-hard Pat-fans say that's not cheating? Which is it? Is he a genius-cheater, or an honest idiot?

How are the Patriots arrogant? They don't trash talk and they always say the right things about their competition. They're better prepared than any team when they take the field, which just shows you how much respect they have for their opponents.
But keep going, we love hearing how miserable and jealous you all are, especially the New York fans.

I AM an arrogant fan - that's allowed. But, I don't believe the team is arrogant for reasons described above. They are decent guys - and great players. Your ass too bad. Patriots still hail from my land of champions!!! 3x Superbowl Champs (not to mention the Sox!)

You guys are all just jealous. Yes let me say it again, JEALOUS. Tom Brady is the greatest QB of all time. He won 3 Super Bowls and won 2 Super Bowl MVP awards with average receivers. Look at Peyton Manning, the few games he didn't have Marvin Harrison healthy, he struggled...Tom Brady never had a player of Harrison's quality, yet he won 3 Super Bowls. Now he has Moss, Stallworth, and Welker, and look what he is doing now...Now is that luck? No. The Patriots aren't luck. They go out and win every game because of the way they prepare themselves. So what if they video taped another team's signals...EVERY TEAM HAS DONE THAT!!! But how is that going to give you an advantage of knowing the opponent's signals? You will get the film at halftime, you will go into the locker room, and there is no way in hell you can adjust in that time period. And if you're going to tell me that they can use the film for the next time they play that team, well it's that team's fault they don't change their signs. If you don't change your signs, you're an idiot and should be out of a coaching job in the National Football League. The Patriots are a dynasty, and no one can change that. Not LT, not McNabb, not even the Oakland Raider's faithful. Get over it, the Patriots are here to stay, and they will make sure that you feel their presence.

The Patriots are going to go down. They have squeeked by for the last two weeks. They will get their due. If they get to the SB, Green Bay or Dallas will take them.

I will give NE all the credit for an amzing season. HOWEVER, they did not deserve to win tonight vs Baltimore. Horrible referring and NE famous Last Second Time out saved them again. I just hope they change that rule. I like brady, but bill is an ignorant coach in many people's eyes.

Of course they deserved to win because they did well, win! Only the team that wins actually deserves the win. NE didn't call the "last second time out" as you put it, the Ravens did. Did you not see the assistant on the side lines waiving his hands and Ravens Coach Billick saying WE called the timeout, post game? I will say that it gave the Pats the extra time they needed to make a play. I don't agree about the penalty calling - they were legit calls. And to call Belichick ignorant is to not know the game of football. He's one of the greatest coaches ever - it doesn't matter if you like him or not, just look at his record.
GO PATS!!!!!

funny how people keep claiming that tom Brady some qb god. When we all know the pats D from those past super bowls always set them up to win. I live in Boston and i hate the pats i hated them ever since bledsoe was the qb. We already know they had a pancake schedule colts out played them NE just got lucky, eagles outplayed them yet again feely gave them the game and the ravens definitely gave them the game. NE just gets lucky specially with the players they picked up this off season Oak just wanted randy to go because Randy one of those baby players if i don't win I'm going to bitch and walk out on you cough 2004/5 vikings. NE not that great and they better take a lost now because if colts meets them in the playoffs specially if there 16-0 there going to beat them. We know they cant really run with out spreading the field. They really cant stop the run proved from this ravens game. there D is mostly old linebackers and few fat lineman if you play them with out fear you can beat them there human just like us bill no football genius he just has a right players for his scheme that's why randy moss is helping tom Brady have those type of numbers because there just doing what the 99 vikings did i think they went 15-1 that season as well. yeah its rare a Boston guy hating NEW England i do but i always did. Also if any one gets the MVP it should be moss because tom Brady never had those type of numbers with any WR in the past. But the pats are good but really how good i just think the rest of the NFL just stinks except for a few teams
16-0 nah not going to happen i think settlers beat them 28-24.

And some one please knock Rodney Harrison out man that hgh really got this guy on the edge specially how ruff he is on players that already down. actually if you think back to the colts game he knocked his own player down to get to Joseph Addai.

They didn't cheat, they just broke a rule, please give me a break! Let’s look at the long history of the Patriots. First of all the tuck rule game, yes where still talking about that, because if that didn't happen there would be no dynasty. The referrers didn't even explain the call they made on the field, its obvious they covered up the mistake by implying the tuck rule after the game. This isn't the only example of Pats getting lucky or cheating. Has everybody forgotten about all the illegal holding and contact tactics they have been using over the years? The Rams after the super bowl complained about illegal contact as did the Colts after AFC Championship in '03 season, after which the NFL told officials to enforce all the rules properly. Then less not forget about spygate, all you pat fans go on about how it doesn’t matter, and look were winning without the video tapes, but the spygate answers a lot of questions specially how did a rubbish coach such as Bili-cheat, who was completely useless at Cleveland, some how become a great strategist over night at New England, and the answer is in the video tapes. It obvious that they have been cheating since the '01 season but the NFL just doesn't care because they need these franchises like the New England, Dallas and SF to sell football and Tom Brady is the All American poster boy QB, they don't want people talking about Cincinnati’s troublemakers, they want people talking about handsome Tom and his clean cut ways. Kurt Warner throw nearly twice as many yards than Brady at the super bowl then but they gave MVP to him, Jake Delhomme made some amazing plays and made that super bowl but they gave the MVP to Brady. It's nothing but favoritism and what happened against the Ravens just proves that. The NFL needs the Pats and that’s way they'll keep winning.

And before all you Pats fans come saying Brady's the greatest QB of all time just because his thrown a few bombs this year, we all know Randy Moss is making him look good, Brady airs the ball out, throwing it high above Moss knowing that only Moss can catch is at that height and there is no chance of an interception, he doesn't make difficult passes like Bret Farve does getting the ball over the backs head and into the receivers hands. And finally all you Pat fans are glory supporters, where were you at the start of the 90's, from what I've heard nobody cared that the team might move to St. Louis, you're all glory supporters and when you win this super bowl (which I’m sure you will), Bili-cheat will retire, all your golden oldies in defense will be gone, Moss will look towards warmer climates and more money since his got his ring and all you Pats fans will be nowhere to be seen.

They didn't deserve to win? Why not, because their players and coaches didn't make bonehead moves? The Ravens blew it, and the Patriots took advantage.
The great teams find ways to win the close ones, as the Patriots do time and time again.
Ha, 12-0 baby.

Rob, what a long-winded ramble to say nothing new. ALL teams complain about bad officiating after EVERY game. Give me a break with all of your whining. I stand by my assessment that the Pats broke a rule - look it up in the book. You CAN and EVERY team DOES film the other teams' signals on the sideline. You have to do it from the stands though and that's where the Pats went wrong. The NFL has looked at all of the Pats tapes and found nothing on them that would indicate they had "cheated" further.
From what you heard - you are wrong. We never wanted the Pats to move from Foxboro. We were very worried about that proposition. Why even open your mouth about something you know nothing about!??
Finally, Good luck with that notion of Belichick retiring soon, we're going to be on top for years dude!! Get used to it.
GO PATS!!

I hate to say it, but Baltimore lost that game. They had so many opportunities and too many penalties! Yeah, the refs are in the favor of the Patriots and they always have been (except for the Indy game this year). The point is, no matter how much the fans think Brady is a god and Belichick is unbeatable, outside of the six New England states, nobody really cares. I live in Massachusetts and absolutely hate listening to how wonderful this team is. The radio talk shows condemn anybody who calls in with a different view from the path that Kraft has carved. It's insane! It might not have been fair, but they won that game last night and last week against the Eagles because Philly and Baltimore couldn't close out the game. If you don't keep your head about you and close the game out, the Patriots will sneak in with a win. It's a shame and it's discouraging, but I think the Patriots are losing ground just at the right time. Their old and wrinkly defense is starting to get tired, and it couldn't happen at a better time. I just hope they go one and out in the playoffs. I know it isn't likely, but I can hope!

Nothing makes the victory sweeter than to hear all the whining afterwards. I'd *much* rather win a game like that and hear all the cry babies than blow out a team.

I think it must be part of Belichick's plan: don't just beat them; don't just humiliate them; completely break their will.

The Ravens will never recover from this.

" the refs are in the favor of the Patriots and they always have been (except for the Indy game this year)"
Wow, talk about cherry picking. And again, why would the refs be in favor of the Pats?

"no matter how much the fans think Brady is a god and Belichick is unbeatable, outside of the six New England states, nobody really cares. "
If nobody cares, then why is everyone in the country obsessed with the Patriots, for better or worse? Everyone has something to say about them all the time, so obviously they care.
If you don't like listening to the radio talk shows, then turn the dial. It's that simple.

Also, I don't see why you think my previous post is whining. I didn't think it was whining or jealousy at all. You Patriots' fans are all alike. If I don't agree with YOU, then something is wrong with ME!

"You Patriots' fans are all alike."
Yup - we're all happy with our team.

you are all douche bags... first of all you let a football game effect your daily self.... but anyway... the patriots don't win games that should be close because they are average... the patriots are THE BEST TEAM IN THE NFL BY FAR... i dont know if they are the best team ever as they are said to be.... but they can play awful and still win... all the other nfl teams don't compare.... and you talk about questionable calls.... look at the colts game... holy shit are you blind... look at the calls... nobody wants new england to win.. including the refs.... so all you haters fuck off.... give respect.... they are the best team of our time... even if they don't win... and brady is amazing... look at his demeanor.... he donesn't panic even loosing at the end of the game... how many quarterbacks follow that suit....... answer is NONE.... you people are idiots to not think you are watching history of the nfl in the making.... even if its not with the patriots.... its with brady.... feel free to email me with your responses... ch12139038@aol.com

13-0. I thought the Steelers had the best defense in the NFL?
The Ravens game sent an alarm off in the Patriots' locker room, and whatever window of opportunity there was to beat The Patriots is now gone.

they are still undefeated. 13-0. they just (easily) beat the best defense in the league. they voided the "guaranteed" win. Beady - Moss - Welker - Gaffney - must I go on? the PATRIOTS are the best team in the NFL. PERIOD. Hail from the Land of Champions!

It's damn depressing to see them win week after week and live in New England and have to listen to all the cocky reporters and media. I don't care if they go 16-0 (or 15-1 and lose to my Giants), as long as they lose in the playoffs so I can see the long faces on the local media (Bob Lobell, Mike Lynch, etc) They are all assholes!

Dear GiantsfaninNE, you should just join the party - it's a cure for depression!

I'd rather watch basketball!

GiantsfaninNE, why don't you root for your home team? Do you root for an opposing high school team, too?

Tom,

Prior to the Patriots existence, the NY Giants were the team that was televised up in New England. My father decided to remain a NY Giants fan, as did I, as is my 20 yr old son. I never cared about Steve Grogan and, especially now, the team that is in my backyard. However, I don't think it makes me an idiot, just because I don't follow the home team. In this day and age of the internet and NFL Sunday Ticket, anybody can be a fan of any team in the country. My entire household are fans of different teams....except my husband who sticks by the Patriots. However, he can't stay home and watch us root against them each week!

Who really cares if the Pats are 14-0? This story is getting older each week.

Wow , the Giants looked good last night. As a Pats fan, I'm real worried about that last regular season game LOL!
[homophobic slur for Eli Manning] couldn't hit water if he fell out of a friggin' boat.

[ I do not permit homophobic slurs in comments on my blog. It's amazing how many Pats fans and non-Pats fans alike feel the need to express themselves in a derogatory style. --Lee]

"I do not permit homophobic slurs in comments on my blog."
Really? What about these:

[Examples snipped. Thanks for pointing that out, there was one comment that had slipped through that I've now scrubbed. --Lee]

I guess being a homophobe is OK only if you're a Patriot hater.

[No. It's never OK. --Lee]

One comment? It was more like four.

[Your examples listed three examples from one comment and one example which I do not consider a slur and have not removed. If there are other examples that I have still missed, please email me at lee-blog AT thefigtrees DOT net. It's no surprise to me that a Pats fan feels the need to be overwhelmingly arrogant in his correction of me, though. --Lee]

I don't see how pointing out an inconsistency or an error is being arrogant. Just asking for some fairness. I'm reading a lot of anti-Patriot vitriol — much of it homophobic and even violent — and yet that's OK.
If being a Patriots fans means you're arrogant, than I guess being a non-Patriot fan means you're childish and/or illiterate (have you read some of these posts?), homophobic and have problems with anger management.

Patriots are only undefeated so far because they cheated. Kraft has the NFL in his back pocket and obviously pays his way to wins. Whatever they do is all bullshit to me. I hope their fucking plane goes down and they have to eat each other, only one person survives and

[more homophobic drivel snipped, the gist of which I'm sure you can imagine --Lee]

I agree about Kraft having the NFL in his pocket. They think the world of that drunk... I don't get it. I hope the Pats go one and out in the playoffs. Even an unbeaten record doesn't matter come playoff time.

"I hope their fucking plane goes down and they have to eat each other, only one person survives and"

...and what? Aww, I wanted to hear the rest!
LOL now the Haters think the Patriots are buying their wins — this stuff gets better every week.
I'm curious as to how you do that. Do
you pay off the defenders on Moss or Maroney? Do you pay off the referees?
I guess the Pats will have to pay off Eli Manning next week, too. Hey, his brother took a dive against New England!

Leave Eli out of this!

Hey, he got himself involved in this mess.
If the Patriots beat the Giants next week, you'll know that it was because Eli was paid off. Some classy team you're rooting for!

Oh Please, don't talk class when you are a Patriots fan. The only less classy fans are Philly fans.

Another thing, Eli has a hard enough time winning a game, let alone throwing one for money. Geez, Tom, I thought you were smarter than that. That's what I get for thinking that MAYBE there's a Patriots fan out there with a brain!

Again, you agreed with the assessment that Robert Kraft has the league in his pocket. I think that answers the question of which fan has the brain.

And that fan isn't you!

A response keeping with the grand old tradition of "So's your mother!" I expected nothing more from you.

So's your mother!

Patriots cheating. I find that about half-funny. They were caught filming the other teams defensive signals. Is that really cheating? Fuck no its not. Teams have been trying to interpret the other teams signals since the beginning of sports, let alone football. The only difference is the Patriots utilized technology (video cameras) to tape the opposing defenses signals and then spent hours studying those signals and learn the defensive schemes that go with them. THAT'S CALLED HARD WORK. DEDICATION. Any other team in the NFL could have (and probabely should have) done the same. However, the Jets dedicated they should whine because they don't have the same work ethic or winning attitude. I run a damned business. do you really think I WAIT until my competitors come to market with a new product or do you think I follow everything they do and learn how to interpret their market strategies to anticipate what thier next move might be? You bet your ass I do the latter. It's called STRATEGY and the Patriots shouldn't be hated because they did what ANY other team in the NFL should be doing. Get the fuck over it, the Patriots have just done it much better than anyone else, much like the play the game of football much BETTER than anyone else.

By the way I am a Pittsburgh fan, not a Patriot fan. But hating the Patriots because they are making history and are committed to winning? Stop fucking whining and enjoy watching the incredible football they play. Once thing I have noticed about Americans, they can't fucking stand it when someone WINS. They cry, whine, bitch moan and call it luck. They can't STAND to see other succeed.

Grow the fuck up. There is room for others to succeed if they work hard. If you aren't winning it's because your fucking lazy and have no work ethic, passion or commitment.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love exclamation points too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Kenn (odd way to spell it, but anyway) I agree about letting the spygate crap die. They were fined, it's over, end it. However, I don't think the defense for their cheating should be "everyone else does it". Two wrongs don't make a right, do they?

As far has hating the Patriots, I have disliked this team through good and bad. I grew up in New England as a Giants fan (my father stuck by the Giants) and couldn't stand the Patriots back when Steve Grogan was around. However, NOW the media around here is much more irritating and cocky, so, yes, I do enjoy seeing them lose and seeing the long faces on the newscasters, and some of the hateful, bandwagoner fans around here that know nothing about the game, they just want the parade in Boston at the end.

Blah, blah, blah. Get some new material.
And hail to the only team ever to go 16-0 in the regular season.
... and to Brady for his season touchdown record.
... and to Moss for his season TD reception record.

Why don't the Patriots wear Sean Taylor's number 21 on their helmets? Are they too good to care about someone's demise? And don't say it's because they had a guy die on their team, because Denver is loaded with misfortune, and they wear Sean Taylor's number, plus the two of their deceased players. Probably just another nose-thumbing aspect of the Patriots.

Well, here we are again. Perched high on the mountain top over looking the land of champions. I must say the view is fabulous and now that the Patriots are 16-0 and making NFL HISTORY it just gets better and better. They DID IT!!! The Pats are the BEST team in the NFL!!! GO PATS!!!

"Why don't the Patriots wear Sean Taylor's number 21 on their helmets?"
Um, they did. The Patriots wore number 21 in memory of Sean Taylor for a week, just like every other team. How about checking your "facts" before you post them here, OK?
I noticed that the rest of the league doesn't wear number 91 in memory of Marquise Hill. Are they all insensitive clods too?
So I suppose the best idea would be for all players to wear the numbers of every deceased NFL player all the time, even if it means covering their eyes. Brilliant idea, Giantsfan.
You sound more desperate with every post. You really need to lighten up and learn to appreciate the finer things in life, and not waste your time hating them. Did someone hurt you as a child?

16-0 is over and done. Now onto the playoffs. THEN we'll see who's king.

Tom,

Every other team is still wearing the 21 and I did do research. I watched every game on Sunday to check to see if every other team wore it.

If you don't like negative comments about the [slur], go to a site that commends them. There's an awful lot of love going around for them, I'm sure you could find a suitable site.

"I watched every game on Sunday to check to see if every other team wore it."
Run for it! The Numbers Police!
You really need to get a life, GiantsfaninNE. I mean, honestly. Think of the productive things you could be doing with all that free time. You could go down to your local shelter and hate on the homeless. Or volunteer at your school, where you could hate on the children.

I don't want to take those jobs away from you, Tom. Otherwise, what would you do with your day?

That response reminds me of a Seinfeld episode, where Elaine tells Putty that working as an auto mechanic is very "grease monkey."
Putty: "Oh yeah? So are you! You're the grease monkey!"
Elaine: "T-t-t-that doesn't make any sense!"

While I also am a big Seinfeld fan, I'm glad you can relate life to the precise dialogue in an episode of a television show. It certain is an insight to your intellect.

Wow, GiantsfaninNE, you actually used the word "intellect" in the proper context. It's good to know that someone who doesn't have any intellect at least knows what it means.
Congrats to Bill Belichick for being named AP Coach of the Year. Go Pats!

There was no other choice but to give it to Belichick. It would've been a travesty not to after going 16-0 (as much as it hurts to admit it).

GO ANYBODY BUT THE PATS!!!

"GO ANYBODY BUT THE PATS!!!"
Haha, spoken like a true "fan."
The Giants are in the playoffs, yet you're more focused on rooting against the Pats than supporting your own team. If the Giants could see your comments, they'd be embarrassed to have you as a fan.

I'm sure the Patriots would be proud to have a fan like you that frequents negative blogs and defends that precious team. Oh wait, I'm sure they don't give a crap about you, like most athletes. Of course I want the Giants to win, but this site is regarding the Patriots. Why start another battle when this one is so insane?

Because I like to needle you.
I know the Patriots don't give a crap about me. They're too busy focusing on, you know, football and dominating every team at every level.

I thought the Associated Press were respected journalists. Giving coach of the year to a man who was fined $500,000.00 for "misinterpreting the rules" is a travesty. There are plenty of coaches this year more deserving. Everyone is simply jumping on The Patriots' bandwagon. Coach of the Year(cheater), league MVP (Peyton wannabe), and I suppose Vrabel will get Defensive Player of the Year, too. If they win it all, I will write the entire season off as an anomaly. Maybe we can give one of them the Nobel Prize, too?

Maybe Tom Brady could be the second coming of Christ while we're at it.

No, no, no. Christ is his son, people!

"league MVP (Peyton wannabe)"
Funny stuff. Brady is having a better year than Peyton has ever had, and he doesn't play half his games in a climate-controlled dome. He also won three Super Bowls without the benefit of an elite receiver, like Peyton's has had.

No, no, no, he never sees his son. He's a deadbeat dad.

Really, Giantsfan? I wasn't aware of that. I've been reading that he does visit his son and provides him and his mom with generous financial support. Could you please provide the links to the news stories that state otherwise?
Thanks!

First provide me with the ones that depict him as a wonderful dad. Got any backup?

Why? I didn't claim he was a wonderful dad. I have no idea, and I don't give a rat's ass what he does in his private life anyway. I only care about what he does on the field. And he's the best.
YOU, on the other hand, stated unequivocally that Brady "never sees his son" and that "he's a deadbeat dad." That's pretty strong stuff. You made the statement, so you need to back it up.
Still waiting ...

Ha! Three days and counting...
I guess I have my answer!

17-0 I guess the Jags laid down and died last night. Or with all the money they were paid to throw the game they couldn,t get their asses up in time for the next play.

17-0.
Tom Brady (all-time record for pass competition percentage in a single game) was pretty good last night, wasn't he?

You and Giantsfan are funny, Rob.

That Patriots are the biggest overhyped team ever!

They technically did not go 16-0 as they lost the to the Ravens.

The Ravens stopped them on 4th and 1 and then the ref said the defensive coordinator called timeout after the play was run. The rules state that only a player or head coach can call timeout...thus the timeout should not have been allowed. The Ravens then would have just downed the ball and let the time run out.

Rob, I'm disappointed in the Jaguars too. I really wanted Jack Del Rio to go home a victor. Up until the Giants game, every team I wanted to win had lost. I had a bad feeling about the Giants/Cowboys game, but when Tony Romo started losing his cool, I knew we had it in the bag! Off to Green Bay!

"They technically did not go 16-0 as they lost the to the Ravens."
Actually, JB, the Pats did indeed beat the Ravens. Check nfl.com for the proof.

I'm so glad I didn't watch that Ravens game. I wouldn't have been able to sleep if I had to watch the stupid Patriots win another game that is assisted by either the refs or luck. It would've killed me.

I didn't watch the Jaguar game for that same reason. However, the rule is, if the other team is taking a knee and beating the Patriots OR Tom Brady is being carted off the field, wake me up. I don't want to miss the local media coverage with their long faces and nothing to say after a defeat. THAT is something worth staying awake for.

"...OR Tom Brady is being carted off the field..."
Classy as always, I see. I don't wish injuries on anyone. Besides, the Patriots can beat any healthy team at their best.

Yeah, you're so perfect Tom. I didn't say I wished for it, I just don't want to miss it when the idiotic fans start panicking. I hate New England fans. They are actually worse than Philly's!

"I hate New England fans. They are actually worse than Philly's!"
Um, yeah. I know. You've said that already.

Oh, I see. Now we're WORSE than Philly's.
Yay, we've been promoted!
Being glad that an athlete got hurt is just as bad as wishing an injury, BTW.
And no, I'm not perfect. I'm just a happier, more well-adjusted person than yourself.

Just keep telling yourself that, Tom, and maybe someday it will come true.

If you would read what I wrote (which is apparently too much to ask) I said to wake me up so I can see the long faces on the local media. I never said I was going to jump up and down for joy because Tom Brady was hurt. I could care less about him one way or the other.

You said you'd be happy to see Tom Brady being carted off the field, which means you want him to get hurt. Your attempts to deny it are quite lame.
Oh, and you still haven't provided any proof that Tom Brady is a "deadbeat dad." Why are you afraid to back up that statement with evidence?

Tom,

I will find the article. I work 5 part time jobs and don't have time to do the research that apparently you do, so be patient.

Read the damn post you idiot. I said "if he gets carted off the field, I want to see the local media and their long faces." If he got hurt, I wouldn't care in the least, but I want to see the local media go nuts. The ignorant New Englanders have placed the Patriots in the Super Bowl since Week 3, and I just want to see it all come crashing down. If not the Championship Game, then in the Super Bowl itself. Excuse me if I want to see the smug a@@holes here in New England to eat crow. Most of the country wants the same thing.

I think you need some anger management, Giantsfan. I mean, you're practically foaming at the mouth.
Repeat these words: "It's only a game. It's only a game. It's only a game."
It should be your mantra from now on.

Hmmmm, found this little nugget on a different board. Here's your reply to another hater who said they hope Brady gets injured:

GiantsfaninNE said...
"I agree completely. I wish somebody would knock his teeth out too!"

And another:
"At least they have a week off so [Brady] can highlight his hair and have his manicure and stuff... then maybe he can spend a series of blows to the ribs!"

But hey, it's possible it's a different GiantsfaninNE, even though she sounds just as stupid as yourself.
Pwned!

[quited homophobic slur removed above -Lee]

"I work 5 part time jobs ..."

I guess no one manager can take your presence for too long, huh?

At least I have a job

Man, Tom, you have nothing else to do than to compare two sites that are dedicated to hating the team you declare your homage to? Wow, that's someone with too much time on their hands.

Evading the subject at hand, are we?

For the next two weeks, there is not a Patriots fan on the face of the earth that will bring down the high, for me, of the Giants going to the Super Bowl. All the talk of who will win is irrelevant for me. I'm thrilled for the Giants and Eli. I'm still stunned by it!

Anyway, that being said, as much as I hate the Patriots, it is overshadowed with my homage to the Giants. I could care less what happens to the Patriots, but I would've felt that way no matter what. But now it's MY team in the Super Bowl, and this is simply thrilling. The Patriots were SUPPOSED to be there... the Giants weren't.

"For the next two weeks, there is not a Patriots fan on the face of the earth that will bring down the high, for me, of the Giants going to the Super Bowl."
Why would Pats fans want to try to bring down your "high?" That's not what we're about. We're focused on OUR team, unlike you.
Oh, still waiting on your documented proof that Tom Brady is a deadbeat dad. It certainly can't be too hard to find that information, since you were so sure of it. What's the problem?

The biggest problem here is that it's hard for a lot of us to get behind New England and their good fortune. Tom Brady isn't very personable and comes off as cocky and rude. Bill Belichick is an arrogant ass--period. I had a much easier time rooting for Indy last year because both Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy act like genuinely nice guys.
The whole cheating thing, however, was an outrage simply because--say this along with me, Pats fans--THEY ARE LOADED WITH TALENT. They didn't need to do it. It was disrespectful to everyone in the game of football--but ESPECIALLY to the Patriot fans!! You guys should be pissed and asking for Belichick's ass on a platter--or at least his resignation. He tainted this whole experience for you and put you in the position of having to defend a roster of very good players at every turn. Yes, I said good players. I damn near cried when Miami let Wes Welker and Junior Seau go. Been a Randy Moss fan since his college days--I went and watched him play in the MAC Championship game while he was at Marshall on a night that was so cold and windy that my eyelashes became icicles. Even Maroney is a good player--the fact that I want to smack his smug face every time I see it is incidental.

But--the Pats got out-played in the Ravens game and they got out-played in the Chargers game. The officiating in the Chargers game was solidly for the Pats. I know I saw AT LEAST 5 holds that the Pats got away with. I don't think there was a holding call in that whole game. How realistic is that?
And, for the record, I am a Miami Dolphins fan that was born in New England but raised in Florida and now reside in WV. And no, I'm not upset that Miami's unbeaten record was broken. It was going to happen someday.
I AM curious, however, to see what greed and free agency does to the Pats in a few years when contracts are up and these guys want more money. The Pats may end up with the perfect season this year--but I'll bet they don't hold onto that claim for as long as the Dolphins did.

And now---GO GIANTS!!!!

"Tom Brady isn't very personable and comes off as cocky and rude..."
Please provide us with some Tom Brady quotes that back up your statement. He always seems friendly to me, heaps praise on all his opponents (even when they suck), gives credit to his teammates and always appears humble and grateful for the opportunity to play the game. Any smack talk you hear from him was initiated by an opponent. If you can provide evidence to the contrary, we're all ears.
As far as the "cheating" goes (I'm assuming you're referring to the first game of the season, when the Patriots were told they were filming plays from the wrong spot), that's a little old, wouldn't you say? Get some new material or move on.

"the Pats got out-played in the Ravens game"
Strange — I thought the Pats won that game! How do you not outplay a team that makes so many boneheaded mistakes? It's in the books as a win, so move on.

"and they got out-played in the Chargers game"
Huh? What game were YOU watching? The Chargers couldn't do anything offensively. How many times were they in the red zone, only to be held to a piddly field goal?

"The officiating in the Chargers game was solidly for the Pats."
Blah, blah, blah. And the officiating was soundly for the Colts in the Indy-New England game, but the Pats still won. Deal with it. Blaming the outcome of a game on the refs is the last refuge of a loser. It's in the books as a win, so move on.

"The Pats may end up with the perfect season this year--but I'll bet they don't hold onto that claim for as long as the Dolphins did."
Do you really think any Patriots fan cares how long the record lasts? I know you're frustrated and embarrassed to be a Dolphins fan, but this is what you're clinging to? Pathetic.

And now — GO PATS!!!!!!!

Poor Wvfinfan... you had no idea that Tom has no life and looks up every little word you put on this website. He even goes to other websites and brings quotes from those back.

Believe me, WVfinfan, many MANY people hope the Pats fall on their collective faces, but, if they win, this too shall pass and there will be more football in the fall for the rest of us. Don't feel the need to actually backup anything you say for Tom. He will find fault with it anyway. He has nothing better to do.

Let's hope those New England [homophobic slur] overlook the Giants, like most people are doing. I like the Giants chances. They are hotter and hungrier than the Patriots right now. The Pats, and especially their fans, are flat (like the roaring applause when they got the trophy on Sunday). I never saw a deader bunch of people in the stands. Almost like it was an intrusion just to have to watch it.

And now ---- GO G-MEN!!!!

[Lee: Homophobic slurs are not welcome here, as I have made clear in the past. Dislike can be demonstrated without showing yourself to be close-minded and hateful. Your ignorant presence in my Web space is no longer appreciated. Please visit in the future, but your comments to this entry are no longer welcome.]

"They are hotter and hungrier than the Patriots right now."
How do you figure that? The Patriots are on a longer winning streak AND they're playing for football immortality. The Dwarfs are not.
I see the moderator didn't delete your predictable homophobic slur. Again, I guess being a revolting homophobe is OK as long as you hate the Patriots.

[Lee: Thanks for pointing this out. Your logical conclusions from my oversight are false and demonstrate immaturity. You and your fellow commenters are guests in my Web space, and I no longer wish to have your duplicitous presence here. Please visit again some other time, but don't expect me to approve any further comments you make here.]

Just to clarify a couple of things: I'm certainly not embarassed to be a Dolphins fan or I wouldn't have referred to myself as one. And frustrated? Heck, most Dolphins fans got over that halfway through the season. I was hoping they'd lose all their games so they'd have that first-round draft pick locked up.
And I guess I should have said that it was my OPINION that Tom Brady isn't very personable. I apologize for any confusion this caused.

I hope Tom feels a little better after calling me a few names. I'm not offended--I found it humourous.
I'm just wondering what he expected on a blog with the title "I Hate the New England Patriots"?

"Duplicitous"?
Lee, I don't have a problem with being banned — it is your site, after all. And I can see why comments from a Patriots fan would rub you the wrong way — I've been a little obnoxious at times, because I'm responding to obnoxious comments from others. That's how smack talk works.
But one thing I've never been is duplicitous. I'm not spreading lies and unsubstantiated rumors about opponents, or being a homophobe, or wishing injuries on other players. You will find those rants from other posters on your blog, not from me.
Thanks for the opportunity to post on your site and good luck to your Chargers next year.

[Lee: duplicitous: "marked by deliberate deceptiveness". Tom, you know damn well that I've been upset by homophobic comments from both Patriots supporters and critics alike, so you're previous comment was duplicitous. And Chargers?!?!?! Wow, you don't know how badly you've missed the boat on that one.]

I'm not gonna lie, I hate the patriots with an undying passion and I hope that they lose the Super Bowl. They are being glorified for being lucky and having a playmaking premadonna in Randy Moss. Also they have LOST playoff games before to both the colts and Broncos. Im a Broncos fan and I even agree that the tuck rule against the raiders was the bulls**t that started it all. Put the Pats in a decent division and we'll see how "great" they really are.

Something I forgot to mention earlier, the only history I hope to watch this Sunday, is a final record of 18-1

Hey Tom, 18-1 :)

Super Bowl 42: This one is in the books as a win--for the Giants. And my proof of Tom Brady being arrogant and rude was there for all to see before the game started when Eli Manning tried to speak to Tom Brady. Mr. Brady turned his head and ignored him. The thing that makes me the happiest, though, is that the Pats have finally, FINALLY been beat--and that the sportswriters are going to have to move, in a single file line, please, off the bandwagon and find something else to write about.

Rude and obnoxious would be kind words to use for the Pats' Bill Belicheat. To bolt off the field, with 1 second remaining to perform what must have been the most painful handshake of his life, leaving his team out there to fend for themselves ... that was so wrong. What a baby.

Lee I must back you up, when the "Coach of the Year" walked out on not only the Giants but his own team, it showed the type of person that we all knew he was- a sore-LOSER who has no respect for anyone but his team and himself.

Hey Tom----

18-1. How sweet it is!!!!

Just remember, "It's only a game....it's only a game....it's only a game...."

Belicheat showed all the lack of class we knew he possessed by walking off the field before the game was over.

It was quite enjoyable to watch Jesus Brady get pounded by the defense of the Big Blue.

At the exact time Burress caught that TD, I definitely heard a voice saying, "I'm melting!!...melting!!...melting!!!"

What I wouldn't give to have seen your face, Tom, when the final zeroes ticked off the clock on Sunday night....

18. And 1. But no Lombardi Trophy this time, Tom. Hope you can take it like a man.

Best team in the league? Isn't that the team that WINS the Super Bowl?

18. And 1. How sweet it is, Tom. Ha ha ha!!!!!

Where did the contributor above "Tom" go? Where all the other Patsies fans have gone - into humbled oblivion. I hope that the Patriots haters above are TRUE Patriots haters - you had to hate them as much when they were 2-14 as when they were 18-1. Like GinatsfanainNE above, everyone 45 years or older in New England grew up watching the Giants on TV, not the Patsies. At some point when the Patsies started to win, way too many became "lifelong Patsies fans". The worst fair weather fans ever. I hated them when they sucked - I hated them when they've won - mainly because they have the WORST fans in the NFL. Remember when they were lucky to half-fill Shaeffer/Sullivan Stadium? The best thing that ever happened was getting beat by the Giants - it has finally shut them all up. Except for the proverbial losers' lament: "wait 'til next year".

I just decided to revisit this site. Glad I did. I still haven't gotten over the thrill of beating the Patriots. It was a wonderful win! Plus, their preseason looks pretty crappy!

[Lee: WB and congrats, giantsfaninne. I see the G-men as a 9-7 team this year. (Better than the 7-9 or 8-8 I see for my Broncos. What do you think?]

Hey Lee,

Well, I think the Broncos have to be looking at a better season. My daughter is a Bronco fan, so we have lots of Bronco cheer at this house. I like the looks of Jay Cutler and, of course, Brandon Marshall makes things so exciting. I would like to see them rebound this year.

I'm so thrilled about the Giants win. I think they will go 10-6, so we are nearly the same. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go back to the Super Bowl. I was one of the only people that gave them a chance in the Super Bowl. I had a feeling this game was getting under the Patriots' skin. The Patriots didn't look good at the end of last year and they don't look good in preseason. Let's hope that's a turn of the tide.

Dear Mr. Feigenbaum, I am a native New englander and avid NFL fan who hates the Pats and their fans so much, I had to write a book about them titled, "New England Bandwagon Nation." The sub-title is "The REAL story of the history of NFL fan support in New England." It is a scathing chronicle of the Pats history, documented home attendance of every reg. season home game ever played fron Sept. 1960 thru Dec. 2007. I take great offense to the fact that the Pats have recently garnered great success while the team was mired in the biggest cheating scandal in the history of sports. (MY opinion) Chapter 6 is totally dedicated to the Spygate scandal, and documents the entire timeline. I call out Roger Goodell and the NFL for a feeble attempt at a comprehensive investigation--which amounted to a serious cover--up which insulted our intelligence. There is much, much more to this book. I would greeatly appreciate any exposure you could offer.
